Brief profile of Bishnu C Parida


Mr. Bishnu C Parida is a Senior Development Management Professional having 25 years of full-time experience working in UN, Development sector and Government agencies.

He is  currently working as a  Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (Deptt. of Rural Development, Govt. of Jharkhand)leads over 3,000+ staff and 50,000+ Community Cadres in the implementation of National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY – NRLM) – the flagship scheme of MoRD, Govt of India in Jharkhand. As on 31st March 2021, DAY – NRLM had reached 32.46 Lakh rural poor families through 2.59 Lakh Women SHGs in all 263 blocks in 24 districts of Jharkhand. Out of above families around 20 Lakh families are undertaking various livelihoods i.e. Agriculture (Paddy, Vegetable, Pulses, Oilseed, Millets etc.) Horticulture (Mango plantation), Animal Husbandry (Goat, Pig, Backyard Poultry and Duck rearing), NTFP i.e. Lac, Tasar and Medicinal plants cultivation, Tamarind processing etc.

He had earlier worked as the Dy. CEO, SSUPSW (Deptt. of Social Welfare, Govt. of Bihar), as SPO, UNDP India (in Jharkhand) and as Team Leader, PRADAN (Odisha and Jharkhand), Educational Trainee, RSC (NCSM), Govt of India in Odisha. He has successfully implemented a wide spectrum of development and welfare projects for World Bank, DFID, UNDP, WFP, ICCO, ICEF, SRTT, IGSSS, PRADAN, NABARD, Planning Commission & MoRD (Govt. of India), State Governments of Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand in his 24 years of full-time professional career.

He topped (gold medallist) his class of MRM (M. Phil) in Natural Resource Management from Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal in 2005. He had done Master of Social Work (MSW) – Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, 1995, 1st Class (2nd Topper) and  B.Sc. (Physics Honours) – Utkal University, Odisha, 1991.  He completed an eMDP on “Senior Leadership Programme (SLP)” from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode. Presently he is pursuing Ph.D. in Management from ICFAI University Jharkhand  in the research area of Emotional Intelligence.

Mr. Parida’s professional highlights include initiating and establishing a new Women Development Project in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha while in PRADAN from 2000 to 2006. Presently the project is benefiting more than 20,000 families (1,00 000 population) through 1,500 women SHGs & livelihoods activities. He is also credited with building new teams and setting up the initial operational systems in SSUPSW (Bihar) and JSLPS (Jharkhand). 

Recently he has become a Fellow of Initiative for Sustainable Energy Policy (ISEP)
